Hannah Harbottle

Hannah is a Senior Associate in the Commercial Real Estate Team in our Chelmsford office and joined Birketts on qualification in July 2015.
Together with general commercial property work, Hannah also specialises in third sector property transactions, undertaking a wide variety of work for public and third sector clients, charities, academies and other not-for-profits. She counts amongst her clients a central government body with Crown status, for whom she handles exclusively all property related matters including portfolio management, leasehold acquisitions and disposals, easements and development issues across East Anglia.
Hannah leads on the academies property work at Birketts dealing with conversions, transfers and mergers for both church and non-church schools, working alongside the Charities Team. Hannah has a large network of charity agency connections and regularly provides training on charity and third sector land issues.
Hannah is ranked as a ‘Leading associate’ by Legal 500 [UK 2025] and “noted for her niche expertise acting for charities and third sector clients”.

Hannah is a keen environmental champion and sits on Birketts’ Corporate Social Responsibility Committee as the environmental representative for the Chelmsford office. She encourages the firm and her team members to “think green” and supports the firm’s investment in sustainable solutions for the day to day running of the business.
Hannah is Vice-Chair of Trustees for a large East Anglia based homeless charity.
