Jonathan Insley

Jonathan joined Birketts in January 2021 as a Senior Associate in the Employment Team.
Jonathan assists businesses and individuals with a wide range of contentious and non-contentious workplace and HR issues ranging from discipline and grievance, settlement agreements, post-termination restrictions, redundancies/ reorganisations, TUPE as well as providing employment support on corporate transactions. Jonathan’s contentious practice includes significant experience of acting for clients with Employment Tribunal claims and dispute resolution, commonly dealing with complex claims involving whistleblowing and discrimination.
Due to his notable expertise in relation to acquisitions in the hospitality sector, he is part of Birketts’ Hospitality & Leisure sector team.
In addition, Jonathan also regularly contributes to employment law articles as well as undertaking both presenting and training to clients.
Jonathan is ranked and named as an ‘Associate to Watch’ by Chambers [UK 2025].
He is also a member of the Employment Lawyers Association.
Jonathan studied at the University of Leicester and qualified as a Solicitor in 2007 specialising in employment law.
In his spare time Jonathan enjoys spending time with his young family and regularly play squash.
