Kate Edwards

Kate qualified as a Solicitor in February 2018 and joined Birketts in February 2022. She is an associate in our Commercial & Technology Team and our Data Protection Team. Kate is also a qualified Data Protection Practitioner.
Kate specialises in data protection services, helping organisations across all sectors fulfil their data protection compliance obligations. She has developed extensive experience in drafting suites of compliance documentation including privacy policies and data protection policies, drafting contractual clauses governing the domestic and international sharing and processing of personal data, advising on the implementation of new data protection practices and technologies and compliance with direct marketing and cookie regulations.
Kate also works closely with clients to manage their responses to personal data breaches and data subject access requests.
Before joining Birketts, Kate worked as an in-house lawyer for a leading insurer and a smaller payment services provider in the Fintech sector. She has a keen interest in the management of personal data in financial services.
Kate is based in our Norwich office.
Before entering the legal profession Kate worked in marketing and account management roles based in Norfolk, including the FMCG sector and the construction industry. This experience coupled with her in-house lawyer’s background has helped her develop a wide understanding of business processes and a pragmatic approach to her work. She thinks she can also remember how to build a stud wall.
