Stuart Cleak
Stuart qualified as a Solicitor in September 2000 and joined Birketts in June 2023. He is a Partner in our Commercial Real Estate Team with a practice focused solely on Energy and Utilities.
Stuart has extensive experience having worked in the Energy sector for over 20 years. He has a particular focus on development and deployment of energy projects in renewables with solar, energy storage and EV infrastructure being the three core components of his work. Stuart’s career highlights include acting for a developer on a multi-landowner 50+MW development in Wales, creating precedent documents for the roll out of a charging network and acting for a battery developer that connected to the Transmission as well as Distribution Network. He also advises funders on purchase of assets using his development knowledge to ensure full due diligence is done.
The types of work that Stuart regularly advises on include options for lease and freehold purchase, easements and certificates of title. Stuart is also keen to use legal tech where this benefits the client and examples of this include a lease portfolio review on certain key terms of over 3500 leases and setting up client sites that allow instructions to be issued ensuring uniformity of instruction across panel firms and key date alerts.
