Ed Savory
- Experience
Ed is a Partner in our Corporate Team, leading the Corporate Team in Norwich. Ed also heads the firm’s Food and Beverage Sector Team. Ed qualified as a Solicitor in October 2006 and joined Birketts in May 2016, becoming a Partner in 2019.
Ed deals with a wide range of corporate and commercial matters, mainly acting for SMEs. He advises on all manner of corporate transactions, leading teams advising on acquisitions and disposals, acting for buyers and sellers to trade and private equity. Ed is part of the firm’s Family Business Team and is experienced in advising on generational transitions and splitting out businesses, in particular in the agricultural sector.
Ed manages many of the firm’s relationships with key food and beverages clients, leads mergers and acquisitions in the sector and advises on strategy. He is well connected and knowledgeable within the sector and is driving the firm’s growth in food and beverages.
The firm has proper expertise and experience on Employee Ownership Trusts (EOTs). Ed leads these complex transactions, advising on the corporate aspects of several exits to EOTs ranging in values to in excess of £100m.
Ed also focuses on business expansion and has particular expertise in franchising; advising franchisors and franchisees on all the legal aspects associated with franchising. Ed holds Qualified Franchise Professional (QFP) status with the British Franchise Association (bfa).
Ed is recommended and named as a ‘Leading Partner’ by Legal 500 [UK 2025].
Ed is a member of the Birketts Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Committee.and is based in our Norwich office.
Ed is the Vice Chair of the Norfolk Community Foundation and a keen sportsman.
Outside of work, Ed is a Canadian-qualified ski instructor and race coach, and is currently learning to kite-surf. He also enjoys golf, tennis, hockey, sailing, fieldsports and cooking.
Ed is Company Secretary of the Norfolk Community Foundation.
