Charlotte Sloan
Charlotte is a Legal Director in the Employment Team at Birketts. She qualified as a Solicitor in 2009 and has been working in the Southern offices of a large national law firm for the past 10 years.
Charlotte predominately advises employer clients on a wide variety of contentious and non-contentious aspects of employment law and acts for businesses and organisations across the South.
Charlotte has a particular specialism in supporting clients in the education sector including colleges and independent schools and has a strong understanding of the nuances of employment law specific to the sector and issues that commonly arise.
She has vast amounts of expertise in helping employers to strategically and commercially resolve disputes with employees and assisting organisations in promoting a positive culture for staff, supporting many organisations with employment law training on topics from diversity and inclusion to grievances, disciplinaries and performance management to how to retain and attract staff.
In addition to providing advice on day to day employment law issues, tribunal proceedings and disputes and drafting employment documentation, Charlotte has considerable experience advising on employment status issues including in connection with IR35 and on the employment aspects of ESG.
Charlotte also regularly speaks at events and leads seminars, webinars and popular roundtable HR forums providing legal updates on topical employment law issues.
Charlotte heads up our Sevenoaks Employment Team and is part of our Education Team.
Charlotte was named as a ‘Leading Associate’ by Legal 500 [UK 2025]. She is also ranked by Chambers as a ‘Star Associate’ [UK 2025].
