Georgia Butterworth

Georgia is an Associate in our Family Team based in our Norwich office.
She advises on all areas of private family law, providing clear, bespoke advice to guide clients through the divorce and separation process. Georgia is experienced in advising on financial settlements within a divorce, adopting a constructive approach in order to reach an agreement without the need for protracted court proceedings.
Georgia takes a particular interest in children matters and, as a member of Resolution, is passionate about exploring all appropriate methods of dispute resolution for clients, including mediation, negotiation, arbitration or court proceedings, depending on the client’s individual needs. Georgia has specific experience with children matters involving relocation, domestic abuse and complex future living arrangements for the children.
She also deals with surrogacy, private adoption matters, declarations of parentage, as well as platonic co-parenting arrangements.
As part of a collaborative team based all around the country, Georgia works closely with colleagues specialising in niche areas of law to ensure her clients obtain the best advice possible.
Georgia also advises victims of domestic abuse on a pro bono basis, by volunteering with the Compassion Clinic and the Lighthouse Domestic Abuse Charity. She is passionate about assisting individuals who may not otherwise have access to legal advice.
Georgia graduated from The University of Sheffield in 2015 with a 2:1 in History. Whilst there she was a member of the History Committee and the University Hockey Team. Georgia then went on to complete the Graduate Diploma in Law at the University of East Anglia (UEA.) During her time at the UEA, Georgia competed in the Negotiations Competition, going on to win the overall contest. Georgia completed the Legal Practice Course at BPP University of Law in Cambridge in 2017 before commencing her training contract.
Outside of work, Georgia is a keen hockey player and is a member of Norwich Dragons Hockey Club. She also enjoys travelling, having spent her gap year exploring Australia and South America. Whilst at home, Georgia enjoys cooking and walking the dog with her family.
