Kirsty became a Member of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives in 1998, achieved Chartered status in 2017 and obtained her Practitioner Certificate in Data Protection with Pdp training in 2020. She joined Birketts in February 2023 as an Associate in our Commercial and Technology Team and the Data Protection Team.
Kirsty specialises in data protection services helping organisations meet their data protection compliance requirements. She has experience in data breach management, drafting data protection compliance documents and managing rights requests under the Data Protection Act 2018 and Freedom of Information Act 2000.
Before joining Birketts Kirsty was a data protection officer and information governance officer for a local district council. Having worked in the public sector for eight years she has a thorough understanding of the issues faced by Local Authorities and of the political working environment. She has experience working alongside information governance teams within a wide range of public sector organisations at all levels, including the NHS and emergency services.
Kirsty’s early career was in private practice based in criminal defence providing advice to clients during police interview and throughout the Magistrates and Crown Court process.
Kirsty is based in our Cambridge office.
Kirsty is experienced in delivering data protection training at all levels and public speaking. Her most recent engagement was to speak as an expert panellist at the Cyber Security and Data Protection Conference in London in November 2022.
