Thomas Utting

Tom joined Birketts in November 2018 having qualified as a solicitor in July 2018. Tom is a Senior Associate in our Corporate Team and is based in our Chelmsford office.
Tom specialises in corporate transactional work and has experience advising on both share and asset acquisitions and disposals on both cross-border and UK-based deals. Tom has a particular interest in private equity and has advised on investments for a number of private equity funds.
He also advises on corporate governance matters such as shareholders’ agreements, articles of association and partnership agreements as well as general corporate matters such as allotments of shares, share buybacks and re-organisations. Part of his role involves liaising with colleagues across a number of other practice areas including the Real Estate, Employment and Tax teams.
Prior to joining Birketts, Tom attended the University of Essex where he was awarded a first class law degree. He went on to study the Legal Practice Course at the University of Law where his electives included intellectual property law, international competition law and mergers and acquisitions.
Tom qualified as a Solicitor in July 2018.
